On November 20, 2017 the New Franklin National Honors Society hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the senior citizens of the of the community. Nearly 40 people arrived for the 1:00 p.m. dinner. They also delivered over 30 meals to community members who could not make it to the school. Kay Schnell stated the dinner was “Marvelous” and Nancy Hyland said, “The school is doing an amazing job.” The National Honors Society stayed in the kitchen preparing the food, served the food, brought food around town to the people who could not come, and stayed back to clean up after everyone had left. Other members of the school pitched in as well. The elementary choir sang songs while the dinner was going. While the elementary art department made placemats and centerpieces for the table to make it a beautiful scenery. Overall, the event was a great success.
